Holy Shepherd Music/Arts

Ruthann Russel, Director of Worship and the Arts

Our Festival Worship Services feature traditional hymns from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal with organ accompaniment. All of the traditional music programs run September through May unless otherwise noted. The Celebration Worship Services feature contemporary worship songs accompanied by our Praise Band and Praise Team Singers.

Traditional Worship Music

Adult Choir

Adults who possess vocal talent are welcome to join our Adult Choir. Members rehearse Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. The choir sings soprano, alto and baritone arrangements. Choir members arrive for worship services 15 minutes early on days when they are scheduled to sing for a brief music rehearsal. The Adult Choir sings at various times throughout the year at the Traditional Worship Services, and also sings in special services during Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are high school age and older, come and join us for Christian fellowship and singing!

Adult Chimes Choir

All high school age and above, men and women, are invited to chime with the Adult Chimes Choir. Members attend rehearsals on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., and play once or twice a month during Traditional Worship Services. The choir also plays during special services during Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Youth Chimes Choir

Youth and returning children chimers through 8th grade meet together to rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. During the school year, the choir plays in the traditional services once or twice each month. Occasionally, preservice music is played for the 9:20 contemporary service. The Youth Chimes Choir also plays for special services during Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If you have never played chimes and would like to join a group, please contact Ruthann for private lessons until you feel comfortable enough to play.

Contemporary Worship Music

Praise Team

All who enjoy singing contemporary style music are invited to join the Praise Team. The praise team meets on Monday at 6:30 p.m. to rehearse the following weekend's service music. It is not necessary for everyone to have a microphone. It would be wonderful to have a 25-voice praise team! The Praise Team also rehearses on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Praise Band

Instrumentalists are invited to join the Praise Band. The band accompanies the Praise Team and occasionally plays during the traditional services as well. The Praise Band rehearses at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Youth Praise Choir

The Youth Choir rehearses on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. and concludes in time for Confirmation Class at 6:30 p.m. All youth in grades 6 - 8 are invited to participate. The Youth Choir sings during the 9:20 a.m. service once each month during the school year. Guitarists and percussionists are welcome to join this choir!

Children's Choir

Children who are enrolled in Sunday School will sing immediately after the Children's Sermon on "Worship Sunday," the first Sunday of each month, during the 9:20 a.m. worship service. After singing, the children will go to their Sunday School classes.

A/V Team

The Audio/Visual Team meets every Saturday at 4:00 p.m. along with the Celebration Director and Praise Team to learn and perfect the running of the audio/visual equipment.
