Children's programs at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church

Sunday School

The 2011-12 Sunday School begins September 18. We offer the following Sunday school classes on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:20 a.m., September through May:

• Preschool ages 3 & 4
• Kindergarten
• 1st & 2nd grade
• 3rd & 4th grade

Children begin the Sunday School hour in Worship at 9:20 a.m. At the conclusion of the children's sermon, the children go to their classes. The PATH rotation model is used, allowing for children to learn Bible stories through a variety of methods. Other components of Sunday school include crafts, music, and a Bible memorization program.

 

The 5th and 6th grade class meets at 9:20 a.m. Sundays in their classroom. The children study the Bible and gain an understanding of how they can apply the lessons learned to every-day situations in their lives.

 

 

Workshops

Along with the Sunday school classes, the following workshops are offered for children:

First Communion Classes	-	for children in the fifth grade
Worship Workshop	-	for children Kindergarten age
Bible Workshop	-	for children in the 3rd and 4th grades

Advent / Christmas

The children will lead a Christmas Service on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 10:40 a.m. The Pastors will participate in service of Holy Communion, which will be integrated into the Christmas service. Rehearsals for the program will be incorporated into the Sunday School hour leading up to the special worship service.

Vacation Bible School

Kids, preschool age (3 & 4) through 5th grade will have blast at Holy Shepherd's Vacation Bible School summer program during June! A kid-friendly meal is served each evening at 5:15 p.m. Songs, a puppet performance, and skit performances begin the program at 6:00 p.m. Kids then move on to have fun at Bible story, craft, music, and game stations. At the end of the evening everyone gathers together to bring the evening to a close at 8:30 p.m.   Vacation Bible School is open to all children. There is a nominal fee of $5 per child to help cover expenses.. Registration forms are available in the church lobby or online (must be downloaded and printed).

Children's Fellowship Activities

Several times throughout the year fun fellowship activities are planned with just kids in mind. These events include: Movie & Snack Night, Family Game Night, Trunks and Treats, Bumper Bowling, and Miniature Golf. (Please check the calendar for the exact dates and times.)

Cradle Roll

All newborn members of our congregation are automatically enrolled in our Cradle Roll program. At special times throughout the year, parents with children from 0-2 years of age will receive informational/fun/helpful mailings.
