Adult programs at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church

Holy Shepherd offers many adult programs, giving members the opportunity to grow in faith, expand their education, and make new friends. Pastor Vance (education) or Jim Winiecki (fellowship) will be happy to assist you if you have any questions or concerns regarding these programs.

Adult Fellowship Activities

Throughout the year activities are scheduled for adult fellowship. (Please check the calendar for exact dates and times.)

Couples' Group

The Couples' Group is for married couples who want to get together periodically in one another's homes for mutual support and fellowship. Check the calendar for current dates and times.

Evening Bible Study

Adults and teens may join these topical Bible studies, when offered, led by Pastor Vance. The studies cover a range of topics, and takes place on various dates throughout the year. The sessions will meet 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evenings.

Friday Morning Bible Study

Pastor Mark Vance leads this in-depth study of the Bible that takes place every Friday at 9:00 a.m.at church, September through May, with the exception of holidays. The 2009/2010 Bible study will cover minor prophets as the group continues reading its way through the Old Testament. The group will also study the Apocrypha.

Golf League

As soon as the ice begins to melt in the spring, all men who enjoy golfing are welcome to sign up for the Holy Shepherd team. This year we had two teams participating in the Calumet Men's Church Golf League. (Check the table in the narthex for sign-up sheets and the calendar for dates and times.)

Hands to Heaven Puppet Ministry

The Holy Shepherd Hands to Heaven Puppet Ministry Team meets from September through May every Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We invite everyone 6th grade through adult who is interested in becoming part of a ministry that includes drama, puppetry, script writing, set and prop design and construction, and A/V production to come by on any Tuesday evening and check us out, or talk to any of our team members. ISH Group

The ISH Group is for individuals and couples who are aged 18 to 35-ish. It meets the third Saturday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at various homes and locations. Check the calendar for current information.

Lectionary Group

Each Wednesday at 10:15 a.m., Pastor Mike leads a discussion about the Scripture lessons that will be read in worship that week. Weather permitting, the group will pair off and walk around the neighborhood to enjoy some fresh air during the discussions.

Prayer Ventures

Prayer Ventures is a group for those who would like to deepen their faith through the study of prayer, and to express their faith through the experience of learning the various forms of prayer and meditation. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the prayer room (located adjacent to the lobby). Currently, the group is viewing the DVD series "Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference? " by Philip Yancey.

 

The Prayer Ventures groups sponsor the Prayer Vigil held on Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Easter), and various prayer events throughout the year. (See the calendar for exact times.)

Secret Pals

Ladies who enjoy encouraging others by providing special little surprise gifts and notes will love this group. Secret Pals are active throughout the year and reveal their identities at the Ladies' Gathering in January. The Ladies' Gathering is for all women of the church to have a time of fellowship and fun. New Secret Pals are given every January.

Shepherd's Tea Ring

This topical ladies Bible study meets the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m., throughout the year. (Please check the calendar for meeting locations.) Attendees take turns leading the study and hosting the tea and pastries.

SWIFT Group

Women of all ages meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. to celebrate and deepen their faith while enjoying food, fun and fellowship. Varied activities each month throughout the year include Bible study, Mission Projects, Scrapbooking, and Potluck Dinners. The group has participated in the Women of Faith conference for several years.

Women's Luncheon

All women are welcome to come to the Women's Luncheon for fellowship and good food. The women meet at 1:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at a local restaurant. (Check calendar for exact date, time and location.)
